Setting up RFID self-check
The Self-service features in BLUEcloud Mobile let users check items in or out by scanning the barcode or RFID tag of an item. The Barcode Self-service features are already activated with BLUEcloud Mobile and you can set them up immediately. To use the RFID Self-service features, you must contact SirsiDynix Product Delivery to activate the options.
This topic explains how to set up the RFID self-check so that patrons can use the app to scan items they wish to check out or in.
To set up RFID self check
- Contact SirsiDynix Customer Support to enable RFID self-checkout for your library. When SirsiDynix Product Delivery has enabled self-checkout, you should see the options you requested enabled in the Circulation tab of the mobile Channel Settings for the app.
- Click Channels, then click the Mobile Channel you want to add self-checkouts to.
- In Edit Channel, click the Circulation tab.
- In the Self-check section, enable Checkout items.
-
In Scan items by, select RFID.
Note: If your library has not had SirsiDynix enable RFID self-check, the RFID option will not be selectable.
- If your library intends to allow self-checkin with the app, enable Checkin items.
-
In Scan items by, select RFID.
Note: If your library has not had SirsiDynix enable RFID self-check, the RFID option will not be selectable.
- To add a beacon, type in the information for the beacon and click Add Beacon. For more information about the beacon fields, see Fields: Edit Channel: Circulation.
- Click Save.
-
In the BLUEcloud Mobile Admin console, click Mobile Apps > [app name], then click Edit for the Data Provider.

- Type in the SIP2 Server IP, SIP2 Port, SIP2 Username, and SIP2 Password if any are blank.

- If you want to restrict the app to reading only the RFID tags your library uses, in the ISO Institution field, type the ISIL code as defined in the ISO 28560 RFID standard.
-
To limit access to the self-check function while testing it, list the usernames of the testers in the Allowed users field. Separate each username by a comma.
Note: When testing is complete, you can remove all of the usernames to give access to all users and patrons.

- Click New Tab (
) above the folder list, type a name for the self-serve checkout tab, then click Create.
- In Visibility, select Post-login.
