Override Codes

The following override codes can be used to override specific restrictions that would prevent a patron from checking out an item. The set of codes you can use depends on whether your library uses SirsiDynix Horizon or SirsiDynix Symphony.

Horizon Codes

These overrides can be used only for Horizon systems.

Override code Description

CKOBLOCKS

Allows patrons to check out an item when there are blocks on their account or blocks on the item.

CKOEXPIRE

Allows patrons whose account expires before the due date of an item to check out the item.

CKOFEE

Notifies patrons that checking out an item incurs a checkout fee.

CKOMAX

Allows patrons to check out items without checking for limits, such as excessive fees or maximum number of items checked out.

CKO_NON_CIRC

Allows patrons to check out items that they otherwise would not be able to, such as a reference book.

IGNORE_GROUP_CKO

Allows patrons to check out an item that fills a hold for a different member of their group.

ACKNOWLEDGE_RENEWAL_FEE

RENEW_NON_CIRC

Symphony Codes

These overrides can be used only for Symphony systems.

Override code Description

CIRC_NONCIRCULATABLE_OVRCD

Allows patrons to check out items that they otherwise would not be able to, such as a reference book.

CIRC_ITEM_PIECES_OVRCD

Allows patrons to check out items that include multiple associated pieces. For example, a library may offer a kit available for checkout and the kit contains four separate pieces, but the kit has only one item barcode or RFID tag. This override allows the patron to check out the entire item by scanning the barcode or tag on one piece of the item.

CIRC_CLEAR_CHARGE_OVRCD

Allows patrons to check out an item that has not been discharged from its previous user. This override discharges the item from the previous user and charges it to the current user.

CIRC_HOLDS_OVRCD

Allows patrons to check out an item when another patron has placed the item on hold.

CIRC_USER_SUSP_OVRCD

Allows users to check out items when their privilege has been suspended because of overdue materials. Instead of charging overdue fines, some libraries prefer to suspend user loan privileges.

CIRC_ITEMLOST_OVRCD

Allows users to check out an item that has been previously marked as CLAIMS LOST or ASSUMED LOST.

CIRC_AVAILABLE_HOLD_OVRCD

Allows patrons to check out an item when the item has an available hold (a trapped hold sitting on the holds shelf) for another user in place.

USER_BLOCKED_OVRCD

Allows patrons with a restricted status to check out items. Restricted statuses include DELINQUENT and BLOCKED.

CIRC_CHARGE_LIMIT_OVRCD

Allows patrons who have exceeded or reached the number of charges permitted by the User Profile policy to check out an item.

CIRC_TRANSIT_OVRCD

Allows patrons to check out an item that currently has a location of INTRANSIT. This can happen when an item arrives at the library but its status is not updated.

CIRC_NONCHARGEABLE_OVRCD

Allows patrons whose profiles were set up with checkout limitations to check out materials that cannot usually be checked out for the user.

CIRC_TYPE_LIMIT_OVRCD

Allows patrons to check out materials that cannot usually be checked out by the patron, because of the patron’s profile checkout limitations. For example, a patron wants to check out four videos, but the 3DAY circulation rule applied to the VIDEO item type has a Maximum Charges attribute value of 3. With this override applied, the patron can check out the fourth video.

ACC_OVRCD

Allows patrons to check out or renew an accountable item. When this override is applied, a patron's clearance can be lower than the item’s classification.

TITLE_ALREADY_CHARGED_OVRCD

Allows patrons to check out more than one copy of the same title. This does not affect copies of the same title that differ in their volumetric information, or copies that belong to a circulation set.

CIRC_RESERVE_CHARGE_LIMIT_OVRCD

Allows patrons who have exceeded the number of reserve charges permitted in their User Profile policy to check out an item on reserve.

CIRC_RESERVE_OVERDUE_OVRCD

Allows patrons to checkout reserve items, even though the patron has current overdue reserve charges.
